We had the chance to visit a third grade classroom last week and they have been working on embryology. They told us some things they had learned during their study and got to play with the baby chicks that hatched. Some things we learned about embryology were:
- first they are a yolk tand then hey turn into a chick
- they are in eggs for a long time
- do not drop the egg or the baby chick won't be born!
- baby chicks drink the yolk
- they need light so they can hatch
- light keeps the egg warm - like when the hen sits on it
While we were in there visiting the chicks, these are some things we noticed about them:
- they were cute
- their feathers were fluffy
- they pooped a lot!!
- their feet were sharp
- they were different colors - yellow, black, brown, white
- they chirped a lot
